WICSA 2005:Slide & File Upload Guidelines
From WICSA Conference Wiki
Presenters are encouraged to upload their slides, and the Wiki software provides a "Upload file" page to facilitate the process. There are two parts to the upload process:
- Uploading the file content
- Supported file types: 'png', 'gif', 'jpg', 'jpeg', 'ogg', 'zip', 'pdf', 'ps', 'ppt', 'pps', 'doc', 'xls'.
- If you need to upload a file type not listed here, please email the WikiMaster.
- Linking from some page to the uploaded file media
Specific to presentation slides, please follow these steps to complete the upload process:
- Upload your file, giving it a reasonably unique filename and a concisely descriptive summary
- Find the "Papers" page for the session to which the uploaded file appropriately belongs and add a link there
- Go to the Presentation Slides page and add a link there
The following is a quick walk-through using a specific example:
- Upload file
- Click on "Upload file" in the toolbox to the left of any page
- For "Source filename", browse to the file you are uploading
- The "Destination filename" will be auto-generated, but change it to a descriptive and unique name, since this is the label you will use to link to the file
- Spaces are allowed
- Copy this name
- Add a concise summary
- Click "Upload file"
- Linking from session Papers page
- Say your paper was presented in the Working Session "Quality"
- Go to the "Papers" page for the Quality working session and add the wikitext for Papers page shown below under the section for your paper (if it's not already there)
- The string "Paper Title--Slides" is meant to suggest a template for naming your file
- Make sure you change the name string to fit your uploaded file
- Linking from the Presentation Slides page
- Go to the Presentation Slides page as well and add the wikitext for Presentation Slides page shown below
- Please insertion-sort your entry to maintain the list in last-name ascending order
- Make sure you do not break the line with any line breaks
- Again, make sure you change the title name string and provide the author and session names
- Go to the Presentation Slides page as well and add the wikitext for Presentation Slides page shown below
Wikitext for adding the paper and slides links to the Papers page:
<small>Paper | [[Media:Paper Title--Slides.ppt |Slides]]</small>
Wikitext for adding the slides link to the Presentation Slides page:
* [[Media:Paper Title--Slides.ppt | Paper Title]], by Author First, Author Second, ...; ''Session''
