Abstract

Achieving quality attribute requirements is a key goal for software architecture. This working session will focus on quality attribute achievement - how to do it and how to verify that it has been done. We will discuss different approaches to designing a software architecture to achieve quality attribute requirements. We will also discuss various positions on how best to ensure quality attributes by studying a selection of special and general purpose tools and techniques.

Organization of the session.

The session will take place Tues from 3:15-5:00 and Wed from 8:30-10:00. It is intended to be a working and discussion session.

So I am organizing it as follows:

Tues will be devoted to single attribute considerations. Each of the following papers will be allocated 15 minutes for presentation. I would like the presentations to include validation activities to support your proposals. After the, we (including the audience) will identify a list of topics for discussion and we will spend the remaining hour discussing those topics.

Tues:

Octopus Architecture: A new attempt to achieve reliable OS - Hang li - the main author of this paper is unable to get a visa to attend the conference. He would like people to send him questions at lihang034@yahoo.com.

Pre-registration for working sessions on the wiki is now closed. If you have not done so already, please sign up for working sessions at the conference registration table on Monday or Tuesday morning. We want to keep these sessions small to foster discussion. Seating is limited in some rooms. Because of this there may be a limit on the number who can participate - if that is the case then the first to sign up will be given preference. Once you have signed up at the registration table and ensured you have a spot, you can return here and add yourself to the list and introduce yourself.
